It would be hard to find a more dedicated Greg Norman fan than Earl Dorber, director of athletics at Greenhill School in Addison. His home office is a virtual "Shark" shrine.

So last Father's Day, he joked with his son, Brian, about entering a contest sponsored by Norman's wine company. Top five essays on fathers would win a golf date with Norman.

Brian won, which is why Dorber last week was flown first-class to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., got whisked by limo to the Westin, was told to charge whatever he wanted to his room, and the next day played nine holes with the Shark and some wine company execs...

Though the weather was less than ideal, the 115th Open Champiosnship at Turnberry was a memorable occasion which the Championship Committee of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club is pleased to have recorded in this publication. In the winds of the first day the average score soared above 78 strokes. Then Greg Norman, our eventual champion, returned a 63 on the second day to equal the lowest score in Open Championship history. He held a one-stroke advantage after the rainy third round and came home five strokes clear on the marvellous fourth day when, at last, the beaustiful setting of Turnberry was seen at its best....

Greg Norman is hobnobbing, shaking hands and smiling for the camera. He is talking in corporate speak, thanking the right people and entertaining his captive audience with a joke about the nasty Kansas City weather.

You could call him a shark out of water, but that wouldn't be accurate. Norman, 52, appears to be right at home in his new life, far from the pressures of the PGA Tour......
