January 29, 2007
Saturday night marked the closing of the festival with hoopla and pageantry at the big Awards Ceremony Night.
The main prizes given are Drama and Documentary as selected by "jury" and also "audience".
Here's how it works: a jury is 7 film snobs.
An audience is thousands of votes, tallied the old-fashioned way - by paper ballots, turned in by audience members.
Here's a tip: if you want to know what's truly the "best in the fest", see the films chosen by "audience" first. As they say: "numbers don't lie."

The Stars from Once perform exclusively for HP Two musicians stole the show at Sundance. John Carney's
Irish pseudo-musical grabbed the "best world drama as chosen
by audience" award. We were lucky enough to tape a duet
by them amongst the snow, aspens and mountain tops.

HP interviews Irene Taylor-Brodsky from Hear and Now
HP was able to sit down with "Best-Documentary-by- Audience" winner Irene Taylor-Brodsky just after her world premiere. We'd prepared a list of questions, but the film was so powerful and moving, all we could do,
while sitting across from her on a cheap sofa in the projector room, was give her a great big hug. » Read the interview with Irene Taylor-Brodsky
